Drop Testing Apparatus

Specimens were compressed with an impactor larger the size of the cross sectional area of the sample. The accelerometer was placed on the impactor. Using different heights of drop and lengths of specimen, the initial strain rate was controlled. The accelerometer signal versus time was recorded and through a special software the stress and the engineering strain rate versus time were obtained. The experimental results are given in the form of stress versus strain. The engineering strain rate versus strain is also give.

 Special grip arrangement is used to apply dynamic tension. The principle of the method is the same as above. The experimental results are given in the form of stress versus strain. The engineering strain rate versus strain is also give.
